Nuevo Progreso Mexico Shootout

mexican-shootoutTwo Mexican soldiers were killed or injured at 3PM on Saturday on the international bridge in Nuevo Progreso, Mexico.

Nuevo Progreso is typically seen as a safe border town compared to others such as Tijuana and Ciudad Juarez. Many tourists were shaken up by the shooting in Nuevo Progreso Mexico on Saturday. Some visitors mistook the gunshots for firecrackers but found out the sobering truth when they saw people with blood on their clothes in the streets.

A truck with Texas license plates is the center of the investigation as the only occupant of the truck has been killed. There is no word yet on whether the occupant is an American citizen or Mexican citizen. The Nuevo Progreso shooting comes about after recent Mexican drug cartel violence have scared residents of many Mexican border towns.

Anaheim Hills Fire Burns 25 Acres

anaheim-fireWith winds gusting at 50 mph and low humidity, the Anaheim Hills fire continues to rage along the 241 toll road in Anaheim Hills. The L.A. county fire department is using helicopters and fire engines to contain and put the Anaheim Hills fire out.

The fire currently lies on the eastern side of the tollway where the fire department hopes to keep it contained as the western side of the tollway is filled with housing developments. The Anaheim Hills Fire has burned at least 25 acres so far.

Although the nearest residents are miles away, officials have warned them to have an escape route ready. Lack of water may also be an issue for the fire fighters as they truck in water from neighboring cities.

Nukese Richardson, Tenn Player, Released From Jail

nukeseNukese Richardson, one of three Tennessee football players arrested for attempted robbery, was released from a Knox County detention facility on Thursday.

Janzen Jackson and Mike Edwards, accomplices, were released earlier in the week.

Nukese Richardson and the other players were accused of attempting to rob three victims at a convenience store while Jackson insists he was in the store while the robbing occurred.

There has been no word on the players’ status as members of the Vols’ team.

BREAKING: Jashon Williams Missing- Son of Berkeley Aquatic Park Murder Victim

jashon williamsJashon Williams, the son of Berkeley Aquatic Park Murder Victim, Zoelina Williams, is missing. Police investigating the murder did not know Zoelina Williams had a son until family members notified them Saturday morning, November 14.

38 year old Curtis Martin has been arrested in the murder case but police won’t say if he has given them any clues as to where the Jashon Williams might be. It is suspected that Curtis Martin was driving Zoelina Williams from Oakland to Vallejo when something terrible went wrong that caused him to murder Zoelina and dump her at a Berkeley Aquatic Park.

Police and divers are searching the pools in the water park for Jashon Williams. Three dogs are being used in the search. Police would not comment on where else they might be searching.

This is not Curtis James’ first run in the law. He previously pleaded no contest to manslaughter in the death of 3 year old Devin Brewer in 1994. James was sentenced to 11 years in prison and served 6.

23 Missing After Boat Sinks Near Cocos Islands Australia

sinking-boat-small40 people aboard a boat headed for Australia were faced with a life threatening situation today when their boat sank near the Cocos Islands.

Nearby ships replied to distress signals from the ship and were able to rescue 17 people. Search and rescue teams are still attempting to locate the other survivors.

Australian officials have said the boat was much too small to carry 40 people, and was likely a group of asylum seekers from the middle east.

Human Trafficking activity from areas such as Iraq and Afghanistan have been on the rise this year, with nearly 2000 refugees arriving on Australia shores aboard rogue crafts.

Rachel and Paul Chandler Kidnapped by Somolian Pirates

rachel-paul-chandlerBritish couple Rachel and Paul Chandler set off for Tanzania last Thursday to conquer another segment of their sailing trip around the world.

Today, a pirate called Mohamed Shakir told a local UK Newspaper the couple’s trip had come to an abrupt halt near the Seychelles.

The demands of the pirates are unknown at this time. The couple does not have children, but had recently been visiting with family and friends during a multi-day hiatus from their multi year round world trip. The two have been married for over 25 years.

475 Passengers Held Hostage on Train in India

india_train_hijackSupporters (ultras) of Chattradhar Mahato hijacked a relief train at Sarodia India carrying 475 passengers Tuesday. The group held the train riders hostage for nearly 5 hours, but allowed local television crews to interview passengers while they presented their demands for the release of their leader.

When local authorities showed up near the ultra-fast train, then stopped in West Bengal, the nearly 200 hijackers disappeared into local surroundings as quickly as they had first appeared.

This hostage crisis comes just a few weeks after 20 prisoners were released in return for the release of a kidnapped polie officer from Midnapore.
