Richmond Virginia Police say Marty Jewell was arrested while driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) at 1:30am this morning near Byrd Park.

Marty Jewell is a local business owner and graduate of Virginia Union University.

His roles on the City Council include City Services and Education, Finance, and Organizational development.

Outspoken bloggers and community members have been unhappy with Marty’s progress on the City Council. People are calling for Mr Jewell’s resignation, many of whom say is long overdue.

A formal press release is expected Monday morning.
