adhar Mahato hijacked a relief train at Sarodia India carrying 475 passengers Tuesday. The group held the train riders hostage for nearly 5 hours, but allowed local television crews to interview passengers while they presented their demands for the release of their leader.
When local authorities showed up near the ultra-fast train, then stopped in West Bengal, the nearly 200 hijackers disappeared into local surroundings as quickly as they had first appeared.
This hostage crisis comes just a few weeks after 20 prisoners were released in return for the release of a kidnapped polie officer from Midnapore.
